    Prabowo Subianto Receives UK Chief of Defence Staff, Discusses Enhancing RI-UK Defense Cooperation

    Jakarta – Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto hosted an honorary visit from the Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, at the Ministry of Defense, Jakarta, on Thursday (30/5).

    Tony was greeted warmly by Prabowo, followed by a signing in the guestbook and a luncheon.

    In this meeting, Prabowo and Tony discussed, among other things, the continuation of discussions from Prabowo’s last visit in March in London with the UK Defense Minister concerning the enhancement of bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries.

    Furthermore, in this meeting, Prabowo also emphasized the opportunity to develop an advanced, modern, and independent defense industry through cooperation with all countries, including the UK.

    “I consider the UK as a close relative and an important partner for Indonesia, especially in the field of defense,” said Prabowo.

    During the meeting, Prabowo and Tony also discussed several other significant matters, such as areas of cooperation that are a priority and beneficial for Indonesia, and potential future cooperative endeavors.

    At the end of the meeting, Prabowo presented gifts including a traditional keris and a pin from the Ministry of Defense, and similarly, Tony also gave a personal gift to Prabowo.

    The meeting was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Defense, including the Acting Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, the Acting Director General of Strategic Defense, the Head of Defense Facility Agency, and the Acting Head of Defense Infrastructure Agency.
