Saber Great of Indonesia Presents Modified Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR
Representing the Indonesian modification and aftermarket industry, Saber Great of Indonesia brought the modified Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR, created by car builder Saber Industries. Let’s take a look at the specifications.
This car was awarded ‘The Ultimate’ NMAA Top 50 at the OLX IMX 2022 event, passing the curation and assessment by international modification curators. This serves as concrete evidence that the creativity and innovation of the Indonesian modification industry are increasingly recognized on a global level.
Participating in the Saber Great of Indonesia campaign is an effort to introduce the potential of the Indonesian aftermarket modification industry on a broader scale. CEO of Saber Industries, Vincent C. Mergonoto explained, “In addition to showcasing the work of our nation’s children, we also aim to accelerate the growth of the modification industry at the MSME scale.”
The 9th generation of the Lancer Evo sports sedan’s body received visual graphics from the Kustom Paint artist, Free Flow. The “Colorful Indonesia” themed graphics feature Hokokai batik designs, applied through hand painting and canting batik techniques.
The Hokokai batik graphics have a close association with the history of Indonesian and Japanese cultural acculturation. “The racing concept of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX MR is further enhanced by the local cultural touch of the Hokokai batik motif striping, representing the unique Indonesian culture,” explained Mochamad Syamsul Fahmi of Free Flow Kustom.
The most prominent modification sector can be seen in the Varis Solid Joker body kit with carbon fiber parts in several areas, and the Voltex engine hood.
As a mascot representing Saber Industries’ aftermarket lamp products, the attractive element at the front showcases a combination of custom slim frame DRL, turn signal signal, and two Biled Laser SR900 Ultima projectors. The detailed lamp setup includes a custom illuminated Saber Logo.
In order to maintain a fresh appearance without losing the JDM Street Racing impression, the choice of a blue color scheme contrasts with the Regamaster Evo wheels, fitted with Advan Neova tires on all four wheels. The suspension setup received Aragosta coilovers.
The 2,000 cc inline 4-cylinder engine with the code 4G63, equipped with a turbocharger, received various aftermarket upgrades.
The engine’s displacement was increased to 2,300 cc thanks to the HKS stage 2 stroker kit. This modification was followed by the installation of King Bearing, ATI Damper, ACL Oil Pump, Water Pump, and ARP Main stud.
Moving on to the head, supported by parts such as GSC R2 Camshaft, GSC Behave Valve Spring, HKS Cam Gear, HKS Timing Belt, ARP Head Stud, and HKS head packing, as well as porting polish and the application of a Fujitsubo exhaust.
The performance enhancements were processed through the HKS GTIII 4R GT35 turbocharger, Tial Wastegate, Greddy Boost Controller, HKS Blow off, and Wagner tuning Intercooler. Impressive!
