Jakarta – The President-elect for the 2024-2029 term and Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, visited his senior from his time as an active soldier, retired General Subagyo Hadi Siswoyo (HS), at his home in Gondokusuman, Yogyakarta, on Sunday (2/6).
During the visit, Subagyo congratulated Prabowo on the honorary four-star general rank bestowed upon him at the end of February 2024.
“I specifically congratulate you on (the rank of) four-star general. It means that Mas Bowo’s quality has been proven,” said Subagyo.
Prabowo thanked Subagyo for the warm welcome. He mentioned that this visit was his first since the completion of the 2024 presidential election.
“I’ve intended to come many times, and finally, I did. This is my first trip to Yogyakarta after the Presidential Election,” said Prabowo.
“Thank you, Mr. Bagyo,” he continued.
Retired General Subagyo HS was Prabowo’s commander during his tenure in the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) from 1994-1995. Subagyo’s position in 1995 was subsequently filled by Prabowo, who was appointed as the Commander of Kopassus.
In addition to leading the red berets, Subagyo also served as the Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD) under three presidential administrations: during the eras of Soeharto, Abdurrahman Wahid, and Megawati Soekarnoputri.
He also served as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) during President Joko Widodo’s administration.
