Jakarta — As the inauguration of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka approaches on Sunday, October 20, 2024, public enthusiasm is growing. Over the past two days, Prabowo has invited potential cabinet members to his residence on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta, signaling the beginning of his administration.
Rendy Setiawan, one of many citizens expressing excitement, extended his prayers for a smooth and peaceful inauguration. “I congratulate Mr. Prabowo. I hope the inauguration proceeds smoothly, without any issues, and that everything remains peaceful and secure,” he said.
Rendy also hopes that Prabowo, as Indonesia’s new president, will deliver the best for the nation and fulfill the promises outlined in his vision and mission.
Amarani Zahratul Qowiyah, known as Zahra, also shared her excitement. “I’m definitely enthusiastic about the inauguration because I participated in the election, so I’m very eager,” said Zahra, a student. She hopes the new administration will focus on education quality and expand scholarship opportunities for students. “As a student, I hope for more scholarships because education is the number one priority in Indonesia.”
Yennih Susilawati, a small business owner, voiced her desire for a more prosperous life under Prabowo’s leadership. She emphasized the need for affordable basic necessities, saying, “What’s important is that the government is honest and responsible and can ensure the people’s welfare. I hope staple goods become cheaper and don’t keep increasing.”
Ariel Elvan, an online driver, expressed his wish for Prabowo’s policies to positively impact the livelihoods of online drivers. “I hope ojek online (ojol) drivers get more orders,” he said.
Regarding the potential cabinet members, Rendy expressed hope that those selected will carry out their duties diligently and with passion. Yennih echoed this sentiment, hoping the cabinet’s programs would prioritize the interests of the middle and lower-income groups rather than only focusing on the wealthy.
