Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, has shown unwavering dedication to providing free nutritious meals for Indonesian children long before his victory in the 2024 presidential election. His younger brother, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, revealed that Prabowo had been advocating for the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG) since 2006. This commitment was reiterated at an event in South Jakarta on 7 January to mark International Disability Day. Hashim emphasized Prabowo’s consistent advocacy for this cause, even during the 2014 election campaign. Prabowo strongly believes in ensuring that Indonesian children have access to proper nutrition and education as a key to building a prosperous future for the country. Upon his inauguration as the 8th President of Indonesia in October 2024, Prabowo officially launched the MBG programme on 6th January 2025, expanding its reach to all 31 provinces in the country. This initiative is a testament to Prabowo’s enduring belief in providing essential nutrition for the next generation of Indonesians, ultimately contributing to the nation’s development and global standing.
