Sumedang – Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto admitted to being amazed to see 60,000 people, mostly farmers and livestock breeders, attend the event ‘Guidance for Agricultural Extension Workers and Farmers and Participatory Food Estate in West Java Province to Support the Increase in National Rice and Corn Production’ in Sumedang, on Tuesday (30/1). This event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense.
“Extraordinary day today, I don’t think there have been 60,000 people in one tent before,” he said.
Prabowo then congratulated the farmers for carrying out a very noble duty, which is to ensure food sustainability.
“Congratulations to the large agricultural family, you are carrying out a very noble mission,” he said.
He also considered this noble duty to be the same as defending the country. Because food shortages have become a global threat faced by many countries.
“All of your agricultural staff are aware, we soldiers used to fight. Now the battle is to secure the nation from food shortages,” he added.
Therefore, he called farmers, breeders, and fishermen true patriots who have contributed to the homeland. Prabowo also expressed optimism that Indonesia can become a strong and advanced country.
“I always mention in various forums that I have great respect for farmers, breeders, fishermen, and farm workers. You are the true patriots. You are the unsung heroes. You are the ones who produce food for all the people of Indonesia,” he said.
“I am more enthusiastic today, I am more confident today, Indonesia is strong, Indonesia is advanced. Insha Allah, we will eradicate poverty from the land of Indonesia,” he concluded. (SENOPATI)
