Prabowo Subianto’s Programs Criticized by Foreign Institutions, Analyst Claims They Fear Indonesia’s Progress

Jakarta — Political analyst Ujang Komarudin has responded to recent scrutiny by several foreign institutions towards the new administration’s programs under Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Ujang suggests that these foreign entities appear displeased with the prospect of Indonesia becoming a more developed nation.

Recently, institutions such as the New York-headquartered investment bank and financial services company Morgan Stanley have scrutinized Prabowo-Gibran’s programs. Morgan Stanley downgraded investment ratings in the Indonesian capital market citing concerns over the weakening rupiah and Prabowo Subianto’s campaign promises, such as free lunches and milk for students, which they argue could create “significant fiscal burdens.”

“If we observe, the intention of foreigners has always been to demean Indonesia, always highlighting the new programs of Prabowo-Gibran due to their fears or paranoia towards Indonesia,” Ujang told reporters on Thursday (June 27).

Ujang argues that the free nutritious meal program, which has recently been criticized by foreigners, could actually enhance the economic welfare of Indonesians, especially those in need.

“When we look at it, they (foreign parties) seem to despise the people and the fate of the Indonesian nation. They do not want to see Indonesia progress,” Ujang continued.

Recently, financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank have also highlighted the free nutritious meal program.

Ujang also quoted a statement once made by Indonesia’s first President Ir. Soekarno about leadership: “If you are looking for a leader, find one who is hated, feared, and slandered by foreigners, for he is the right one.”

“We talk about Bung Karno who once advised to look for a leader who is hated because he is the right one. Now, this leadership of Prabowo that is scrutinized and hated by foreigners shows that Prabowo is correct, not bowing to foreigners,” Ujang emphasized.

“The foreign criticism and hatred towards Prabowo are keys to recognizing that Prabowo is a true and knightly leader,” he added.
